Getting started is simple — install MerchUp on your Shopify store and sign in. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that includes 10 free credits, so you can generate real product descriptions, explore the Template Editor, and see results on your own products before paying anything. Yes — MerchUp is currently built for Shopify. The app installs into your Shopify store, syncs your products, and publishes descriptions straight back to your storefront, with all billing handled through Shopify itself. Support for additional eCommerce platforms is on our roadmap.

Yes — every plan comes with a 7-day free trial, and you get 10 free credits to use during it. That's full access to MerchUp: generate real AI descriptions, design in the Template Editor, and publish to your store. Billing runs through Shopify, so you won't be charged until the trial ends — cancel before then and you pay nothing.

You can change your plan anytime from the Subscription page in your dashboard. Upgrades usually apply immediately. Moving to a lower tier usually takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle — you keep your current plan's access until then. While you're on a free trial, plan changes generally apply straight away. Included monthly credits refresh on your billing cycle, not at the moment you switch.

You can cancel anytime from the Subscription page in your dashboard. Because billing runs through your platform (Shopify), the cancellation is confirmed there too. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you keep full access to your plan's features until then — you just won't be charged again.

Billing is handled by the platform your store runs on, rather than by MerchUp directly. If your store is on Shopify, all charges — subscriptions, credit top-ups, and template purchases — go through Shopify's billing system and appear alongside your other Shopify charges, using whatever payment method you have on file with Shopify. We never see or store your card details.

Because credits are allocated against real AI resources, subscription fees are non-refundable once charged, and credits (including top-ups) are non-refundable once allocated or used. Template purchases are non-refundable once access is granted. None of this affects your statutory rights — where a refund is required by law, we honour it. If you believe you've been billed in error, contact our support team and we'll review your case.

Yes. The Template Editor gives you full visual control — start from one of our professionally designed template families or build your own layout with sections, elements, backgrounds, effects, and typography controls. Every part of a template can be restyled to match your brand, no code required.

The Template Editor is where you design product description layouts. You compose sections and elements visually, and the AI fills the right text into the right slots — so every product gets a consistent, branded description while the copy itself stays unique to that product.

Descriptions are published to Shopify by MerchUp, so your storefront always reflects what you generated and approved. When you update a template, descriptions generated or regenerated from that point use the updated design — you stay in control of what gets pushed to your store.

You don't need to write CSS — the Template Editor exposes deep visual styling controls (layout, spacing, typography, colours, backgrounds, and effects) on every plan. The styling is baked into each description when it's published, so your designs render faithfully inside your Shopify theme.

Yes — MerchUp includes a library of professionally designed template families, each a genuinely distinct design system with its own layouts, typography, and artwork. Five families are free and included on every plan, and the rest can be bought individually at any time — there is no plan restriction on which ready-made templates you can use. Separately, your plan sets how many custom templates you can build and save in the Template Editor: Starter 1, Growth 5, Pro and Scale unlimited. That allowance applies only to templates you create yourself — it never limits the ready-made families available to you.

Every description runs on the MerchUp AI Engine, tuned specifically for product copy. It writes from your actual product data — titles, variants, options, and tags — rather than inventing details, and you choose the copy quality level (Fast, Enhanced, Premium). You can review and edit everything before it's published to your store.

Credits are how usage is measured in MerchUp. Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance — Starter 50, Growth 125, Pro 450, Scale 1,000 — which refreshes each billing cycle (unused credits don't roll over). Generations use credits based on the amount of AI work involved, and running bulk jobs at higher speed adds a small convenience factor. Need more? Top-ups start at 20p per credit, with volume discounts plus an extra plan discount on Growth (5%), Pro (10%), and Scale (15%).

Absolutely — you can set the tone and style of your copy from AI Controls, from professional to casual, and your templates' brand-voice settings keep the writing consistent across your catalogue. The AI adapts each description to your preferences while staying accurate to the product.

MerchUp can write in over 20 languages, including English (UK and US), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Korean, Arabic, Polish, Turkish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, and Romanian. Set your output language in AI Controls — or leave it on Auto to match your store's default.

The AI writes only from the product data you give it — it won't invent specifications or prices. Structured facts like pricing stay locked while the copy is generated around them, and every description can be reviewed and edited before you publish, so nothing reaches your storefront without your approval.

Not yet — MerchUp accounts are currently single-user. Team access with roles and permissions is on our roadmap. You can, however, connect multiple Shopify stores to one account and manage them all from a single dashboard, with a discount on each additional store.

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and your Shopify connection uses Shopify's secure OAuth flow — we never see your Shopify password. Payments are processed by your platform's own billing system (such as Shopify), so your card details never touch our servers.

There's no cap on how many products you can manage — usage is measured in credits, which cover AI generation. Plans differ on included monthly credits, maximum generation speed (up to 2x on Growth, 5x on Pro, and 10x on Scale), how many custom templates you can build and save in the Template Editor (Starter 1, Growth 5, Pro and Scale unlimited), and collections (not included on Starter, up to 5 on Growth, 10 on Pro, unlimited on Scale). Ready-made template families are never limited by plan — the five free ones are included on every plan, and the rest can be bought individually. You can check your usage anytime on the Subscription page.

Your descriptions are published directly to your Shopify store, so your content always lives where you own it. You can also export your generation history as a CSV from the History page. If you ever cancel, everything already published to your store stays exactly as it is.
