AI card grading

Know the grade before you submit.

AI measures centering front and back, maps every corner, edge and surface mark, and estimates the grade on each major grader's scale, from two phone photos.

  • Centering, front and back
  • Corners, edges and surface mapped
  • Every major grader's scale

HOW IT WORKS

Two photos in, a full report out

No light box, no ruler, no guesswork. Photograph the card and MerchUp does the measuring.

Snap the front and back

Use your phone. A photo with glare on the card is refused on the spot so you can tilt and retake, because glare hides what the grade depends on.

Glare checked

Every side measured

Guide lines find the cut edge and printed frame on all four sides. Corners are magnified, edges traced, the surface read mark by mark.

Front and back

Graded on every scale

The most likely grade on each grader's own scale, how confident it is, and the graded sold price at that grade.

Six graders
The breakdown

Every measurement, shown its working.

Not a mystery number. Watch each check run on one card, or tap any step to jump to it.

An AI estimate from your photos, not a grading company's verdict.

Every major grader

Six graders. Six rulebooks.

A 9 at one company isn't a 9 at another. Each estimate follows that grader's own scale, labels and published centering tolerances.

PSA

PSA

  • 1 to 10 with half grades
  • Only one minor flaw allowed at a 9
Half grades
BGS

Beckett

  • Four subgrades; the lowest caps the grade
  • Pristine 10 and Black Label at the top

CGC

CGC

  • Its own labels, like NM/M+ 8.5
  • A Pristine 10 above Gem Mint

SGC

TAG

TAG

  • Lenient back centering
  • No 9.5, so a near-miss reads 9
No 9.5
ACE

ACE

  • Gem Mint 10 allows 60/40
  • Same line front and back
60/40 Gem Mint

One card, three different 10 lines

This card's front measures 52/48. It clears PSA's and ACE's 10 line, but not Beckett's Pristine 50/50.

Why it matters

Raw or graded? Decide before you pay.

Grading costs money and time. Know which cards are worth sending, and which sell better raw.

  • Raw vs graded sold price — the raw market price next to real sales for that grader and grade, when they exist
  • Worth grading · Best grade first — filter a whole stack and sort the strongest submissions to the top
  • Honest on the listing — "estimated grade, from the photos, not a grading company's verdict", plus the condition map
  • Sharper with your corrections — drag a centering line or dismiss a mark and your store's estimates tune overnight

Answers on scanning and listing products, template-driven descriptions, AI SEO, selling in person, plans and billing.

Yes. Scan a product photo, a barcode or a trading card with your phone, your computer's camera, a barcode scanner or uploaded photos, and MerchUp AI fills every Shopify field: title, description, SEO, tags, variants and price. Product scanning is included on every plan; trading cards use the card scanner add-on.

Scanning products is included on every plan. Barcodes and products already in the MerchUp catalogue are free, and an AI lookup is only charged when the AI identifies a product we don't already know. Trading cards use the card scanner add-on: £7.99 a month for 1,000 scans, £19.99 for 5,000 or £39.99 for unlimited. Each card scan includes the card's identity, market price, cleaned-up photos, centering and a grade estimate. A full condition report is 0.4 credits extra.

MerchUp AI measures each card's centering from your scan and estimates the grade it would likely get from the major grading companies, with a condition report that points out wear on the corners, edges and surface. It is an estimate to help you price a card and decide whether to send it for grading, not an official grade.

Yes. MerchUp AI can turn a product photo into a clean studio shot or place it in a lifestyle scene, such as a living room, kitchen, outdoor setting or luxury marble. Each enhanced photo costs 1 credit and is kept beside your original, so you can always switch back.

Yes. MerchUp AI can refresh the products already in your store: listing details, template-driven descriptions, AI photos and SEO. Every change waits for your approval before it's pushed, and your history lets you restore an earlier version at any time.

Yes, on Pro and Scale. Pick a date and time and MerchUp AI publishes the product to your store when it's due, so launches and drops go live on schedule.
