Yes. Scan a product photo, a barcode or a trading card with your phone, your computer's camera, a barcode scanner or uploaded photos, and MerchUp AI fills every Shopify field: title, description, SEO, tags, variants and price. Product scanning is included on every plan; trading cards use the card scanner add-on.

Scanning products is included on every plan. Barcodes and products already in the MerchUp catalogue are free, and an AI lookup is only charged when the AI identifies a product we don't already know. Trading cards use the card scanner add-on: £7.99 a month for 1,000 scans, £19.99 for 5,000 or £39.99 for unlimited. Each card scan includes the card's identity, market price, cleaned-up photos, centering and a grade estimate. A full condition report is 0.4 credits extra.

MerchUp AI measures each card's centering from your scan and estimates the grade it would likely get from the major grading companies, with a condition report that points out wear on the corners, edges and surface. It is an estimate to help you price a card and decide whether to send it for grading, not an official grade.

Yes, on Growth and above. Scan a seller's cards to see market prices and make an offer, sell from your stock in person, or run a trade using store credit. Sales go through Shopify POS, and anything you buy can be listed on your online store in one click.

The Template Editor is where you design your product description layouts. You build sections and elements visually, and the AI writes into the right slots, so every product gets a consistent, designed description that's written specifically for that product.

Descriptions are written by the MerchUp AI Engine from your real product data (titles, variants, options and tags) into your designed template, so it doesn't invent specifications or prices, and structured facts like pricing stay locked. Choose a writing quality level (Standard, Polished or Premium), and review or edit everything before it's published.

Yes. The Template Editor gives you full visual control — start from one of our professionally designed template families or build your own layout with sections, elements, backgrounds, effects, and typography controls. Every part of a template can be restyled to match your brand, no code required.

Yes — MerchUp includes a library of professionally designed template families, each a genuinely distinct design system with its own layouts, typography, and artwork. Five families are free and included on every plan, and the rest can be bought individually at any time — there is no plan restriction on which ready-made templates you can use. Separately, your plan sets how many custom templates you can build and save in the Template Editor: Starter 1, Growth 5, Pro and Scale unlimited. That allowance applies only to templates you create yourself — it never limits the ready-made families available to you.

Descriptions are published to Shopify by MerchUp, so your storefront always reflects what you generated and approved. When you update a template, descriptions generated or regenerated from that point use the updated design — you stay in control of what gets pushed to your store.

You don't need to write CSS — the Template Editor exposes deep visual styling controls (layout, spacing, typography, colours, backgrounds, and effects) on every plan. The styling is baked into each description when it's published, so your designs render faithfully inside your Shopify theme.

Press "AI does it all" and MerchUp AI handles your store's SEO. It finds the shops you compete with, picks keywords from what they rank for and from your own Google Search Console data, writes meta titles, meta descriptions and image alt text for your products, collections and pages, checks the results on live Google, and pushes the SEO to your store. You see a quote before anything runs, and you can undo a run.

It's optional but recommended. Connecting Search Console lets MerchUp AI use your store's real clicks, impressions and rankings when it picks keywords. Without it, the AI still works from live Google results.

No. AI SEO only updates your SEO fields: meta titles, meta descriptions and image alt text. Your descriptions, prices and the rest of your listings stay exactly as they are.

Before a run starts you see a quote in credits for your whole store, and you only pay if you approve it. AI SEO works on every plan; on the Free plan it runs one listing at a time. Rank tracking is included on Growth (25 keywords), Pro (100 keywords and 3 rivals) and Scale (500 keywords and 5 rivals). On Starter, rank scans use credits, and your first scan is free.

Credits are how usage is measured in MerchUp. The Free plan includes 10 one-time welcome credits. Paid plans include a monthly allowance — Starter 50, Growth 125, Pro 450, Scale 1,250 — which refreshes each billing cycle (unused credits don't roll over). Generations use credits based on the amount of AI work involved, and running bulk jobs at higher speed adds a small convenience factor. Need more? Top-ups are 30p per credit on Free and start at 20p on paid plans, with volume discounts plus an extra plan discount on Growth (5%), Pro (10%) and Scale (15%).

Yes. Set the tone and style of your descriptions in AI Controls, from professional to casual, and your templates' brand-voice settings keep the writing consistent across your catalogue while staying accurate to each product.

MerchUp can write in 50 languages, including English (UK, US, Canada and Australia), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Arabic, Polish, Turkish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish. Set your output language in AI Controls — or leave it on Auto to match your store's default.

You can change your plan anytime from the Subscription page in your dashboard. Upgrades usually apply immediately. Moving to a lower tier usually takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle — you keep your current plan's access until then. While you're on a free trial, plan changes generally apply straight away. Included monthly credits refresh on your billing cycle, not at the moment you switch.

You can cancel anytime from the Subscription page in your dashboard. Because billing runs through your platform (Shopify), the cancellation is confirmed there too. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you keep full access to your plan's features until then — you just won't be charged again.

Billing is handled by the platform your store runs on, rather than by MerchUp directly. If your store is on Shopify, all charges — subscriptions, credit top-ups, and template purchases — go through Shopify's billing system and appear alongside your other Shopify charges, using whatever payment method you have on file with Shopify. We never see or store your card details.

Because credits are allocated against real AI resources, subscription fees are non-refundable once charged, and credits (including top-ups) are non-refundable once allocated or used. Template purchases are non-refundable once access is granted. None of this affects your statutory rights — where a refund is required by law, we honour it. If you believe you've been billed in error, contact our support team and we'll review your case.

You get 10 welcome credits, preset templates and live chat support, you create products one at a time, and you can buy more credits at 30p each whenever you need them. Upgrade any time for monthly credits, bulk generation, custom templates, collections and more.

Not yet — MerchUp accounts are currently single-user. Team access with roles and permissions is on our roadmap. You can, however, connect multiple Shopify stores to one account and manage them all from a single dashboard, with a discount on each additional store.

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and your Shopify connection uses Shopify's secure OAuth flow — we never see your Shopify password. Payments are processed by your platform's own billing system (such as Shopify), so your card details never touch our servers.

There's no cap on how many products you can manage — usage is measured in credits, which cover AI work. Plans differ on included credits, bulk generation (Free creates products one at a time; paid plans run in bulk at up to 2x speed on Growth, 5x on Pro and 10x on Scale), custom templates you can build and save (Starter 1, Growth 5, Pro and Scale unlimited) and collections (Starter 1, Growth up to 5, Pro up to 25, Scale unlimited). Ready-made template families are never limited by plan — the five free ones are included on every plan, and the rest can be bought individually. You can check your usage anytime on the Subscription page.

Your descriptions are published directly to your Shopify store, so your content always lives where you own it. You can also export your generation history as a CSV from the History page. If you ever cancel, everything already published to your store stays exactly as it is.
